Lead Product Manager
About Us
At Gameopedia, our journey began in Norway with a simple mission: to be the geeky gamer friend who helps you find the perfect games and offers top-notch recommendations. From humble beginnings, we quickly made our mark, landing our first major customer a year later—one of Norway's largest news publications. This pivotal moment propelled us to expand our operations to India, starting with five passionate gamers working around a dining table in a small apartment.
Today, with offices in Oslo and Hyderabad, we serve industry-leading video game data and insights to the biggest companies worldwide, influencing millions of gaming decisions every day. Our evolution from a small startup to an industry leader is driven by our dedication to providing gamers with extraordinary experiences. We are now transitioning into a product company, developing B2B and B2C products that will revolutionize how people engage with games.
As we scale up our operations, our vision over the next three years is to create extraordinary experiences for a billion gamers every day. Join us in this exciting journey and help shape the future of gaming.
The Opportunity
Most AI companies are building “Chat with PDF” wrappers. Gameopedia is building foundational intelligence products that power the global gaming ecosystem — from the world’s deepest metadata layer to AI-native insight and productivity platforms like Lumos and Braigent.
Computing limits scale, but context limits trust and understanding. Reliable AI systems — whether internal automation or customer-facing products — cannot exist on noisy, poorly structured data. This is why our industry-leading Metadata is the product foundation.
We’re looking for a Lead Product Manager who will own our Metadata platform end-to-end while also providing leadership, mentorship, and product direction across other product initiatives. This role sits at the intersection of data, AI, product craft, and people leadership.
Today, you will be hands-on and deeply embedded in Metadata. Over time, you will build product excellence across multiple AI-native products, growing into a broader product leadership role as the organization scales.
How You'll Make an Impact
As our Lead Product Manager, you will own outcomes, not just roadmaps.
Own Metadata as a Product Platform - drive direction, strategy, roadmap, and execution
Define and own the product thesis and strategic bets, establishing the Ideal Customer Profile, framing the core problems we solve, and making clear trade-offs on what we build (and don’t build), for whom, and in what sequence.
Convert high-fidelity market signals — including wins/losses, objections, buying triggers, and disqualifiers — into focused product bets and prioritization decisions.
Ensure Metadata evolves not just as data, but as a productized intelligence layer usable by humans and machines.
Own clear, outcome-driven platform success metrics such as quality, coverage, freshness, adoption, latency, reliability, and cost — and use them to inform long-term platform decisions.
Lead Product & Mentor Design Talent
Manage and mentor Senior and Associate PMs across Metadata and our other initiatives.
Provide product judgment, structure, and coaching, especially in ambiguous and AI-heavy problem spaces.
Mentor/coach the UX/Product Design team, ensuring design quality, usability, and coherence across products.
Raise the bar on product discovery, execution quality, and storytelling across the organization.
Be an AI-Savvy Product Leader
All our products are AI-native or AI-heavy.
Partner closely with Engineering and AI teams to turn complex AI capabilities into clear, usable, and valuable products.
Understand and navigate trade-offs between model performance, latency, cost, trust, and margins.
Design and promote human-in-the-loop workflows, feedback loops, and evaluation mechanisms.
Help PMs and Designers reason about AI constraints, failure modes, and responsible product design.
Provide Cross-Product Leadership & Flexibility
While your primary ownership is Metadata, you must be able to context-switch and support other products when needed.
Over time, you may take primary ownership of another product and help build out the PM structure around it.
Act as connective tissue across products, ensuring shared standards of quality, clarity, and execution.
What Cross-Product Leadership & Flexibility
Experience & Seniority
Typically 10+ years of experience in Product Management, with hands-on ownership of complex, data-heavy, platform, or AI-enabled products.
Experience leading or mentoring other PMs and working closely with Product Design is expected.
You may currently be a Lead PM or operating at Lead level, with the ambition and capability to grow into broader product leadership over time.
Product Craft & Ownership
You’ve shipped meaningful products end-to-end and lived with the consequences.
You’re comfortable being hands-on: writing PRDs, doing discovery, shaping UX, and working closely with Engineers.
You understand that strong foundations beat flashy features.
AI Literacy
You are fluent in how modern AI systems work — and where they fail.
You can reason about LLMs, automation pipelines, evaluation, cost curves, and reliability.
You can translate AI complexity into clear decisions for PMs, Designers, Sales, and Leadership.
Leadership & Mentorship
You enjoy coaching and developing PMs and Designers.
You give direct, high-quality feedback and raise standards without creating fear.
You can guide teams through ambiguity without micromanaging them.
